Cancel that delivery guy, because the tastiest pizza is made by making it yourself. With Veenmeester cheese and right in your own oven. Easier than you think. And if you don't, you can always use that ready-made crust.
In this recipe, we top it with slices of ham, tomato, red onion, and fresh basil. But feel free to use whatever you like. Pepperoni, mushrooms, bell pepper, olives, and a handful of arugula all go well too!
Ingredients (8 pizzas)
For the base
1 kg white flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 to 2 grams yeast
Half a liter of water (lukewarm)
Finely ground cornmeal to roll out the dough
For the topping
Tomato sauce
Veenmeester cheese (grated)
Ham
Tomato slices
Red onion rings
Fresh basil leaves
Preparation
Pizza base
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the water. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, mix the salt into the flour.
- Combine the flour and water and knead for 10-15 minutes until a smooth dough forms. You can also use a food processor with dough hooks for this.
- Brush the inside of a large mixing bowl with olive oil and place the entire dough ball inside. Brush the ball with oil as well and wipe the bowl with a clean, damp tea towel.
- Let it rise in a warm place for about 8 hours.
- Sprinkle your work surface with finely ground cornmeal. Remove the dough from the bowl and divide it into 100-150 gram balls. Tension them by shaping them into balls and roll them out with a rolling pin.
Siege
- Spread the pizza base thinly with the tomato sauce.
- Divide the grated Veenmeester cheese, ham slices, tomato and red onion rings over the pizza in succession.
- Bake the pizza for about 10 minutes on the hottest setting in your oven, or use a pizza oven if you have one. In that case, your pizza will be ready in about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle with the fresh basil leaves and serve.
Enjoy your meal!
